Broomfield Days begins on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 with a golf tournament and bingo games and then Broomfield’s large annual community festival is on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011.
Saturday is packed with activities including a 5K race, a clown contest, a large parade down Midway Boulevard with parade Grand Marshal George Di Ciero, a trade fair, a craft festival, food booths, three stages of entertainment, demonstrations and great community spirit.

Dispelling the 20 Percent Downpayment Myth
Published August 30, 2011 | In my column last month, I discussed a government proposal that could have significant impact on the future of the housing industry: the QRM, or Qualified Residential Mortgage, as part of the Dodd-Frank Act. According to the proposed QRM definition, lenders must hold 5% of the risk of any given residential loan unless it is considered a QRM, which is a loan that has a 20% downpayment and meets other debt-to-income and borrower credit history requirements.

Buying is cheaper than renting in most U.S. cities
Published August 16, 2011 | Demand for rental units has increased so much that it’s now cheaper to buy a two-bedroom home than to rent one in most major U.S. cities. According to real estate web site Trulia, buying was cheaper than renting in 74% of the country’s 50 largest cities in July. In addition to a continuing decline in home prices, rock-bottom interest rates have added a lot of weight to the buy side of the scale. The overnight average rate for a 30-year fixed was just 4.19% on Monday, according to Bankrate.com. A 15-year fixed averaged just 3.43%.
